1985 quarter with the bust plateaued above the rest of the obverse. Never seen anything like this.

Not sure what caused the damage, but it's not a mint error. PMD of some sort.

Looks like someone took a heavy washer and either hit or squeezed it against the coin. PMD for sure.

it looks like someone put a large diameter washer against the obverse then pressed it in a hydraulic press to push the design through the hole in the washer.

My wild guess for the way in which this quarter was damaged is that it was used to even out the length of a table leg in comparison to some slightly longer ones, e.g. at a restaurant.
