Hello everyone, this penny is missing date, motto, and LIBERTY.
It's a struck through late stage die cap and has the ghost halo easily see near forehead of Lincoln. On the reverse you can see stress marks from strike near the left wheat stick as a double lined wheat wreath .

How much do you think this error would be worth , very noticable without a magnifye 10x loop

To do that you are going to have to ad a picture of the reverse to this thread. Thx!

My opinion on the obverse of this coin, is that someone purposely damaged this coin, by trying to remove the
features. Likely was done some time ago because the coin has toned since then.

I'm thinking it was altered as well. The motto shows damage, making me think it was altered post mint.

Given all the deep scratches on the obverse top, I agree that there is a lot of PMD

I thought it was post mint damaged my self I trade for coin $1300 dollars for someones penny collection.

But the coin does appear to have incuse corona striking and I believe what you are calling scratches is retained metal from the die cap transfer
But the scratches look similar to this image but more extreme and the back of coin is stamp with more definition from a hard strike
its hard to take good images
