This is the best I can do for images today. When I purchased the coin I was thinking it was struck through a dropped filling but it is definitely raised. I can do better with the images tomorrow. The area I am referring to is north of the E in WE. What do you think?

Quarters are your thing and I'm out of my comfort zone but am leaning towards a die gouge. It is odd how it follows the top of the E though, almost reminds me of a type 2 counter clash but find that unreasonable with no other areas showing this. There are some interesting concentrical die scratches towards the center of the reverse. Look forward to you getting it in your hands for better pics.

Thanks makecents. I was thinking of some kind of Die Deterioration because it's definitely not an early die state. I have the coin in hand. It could be any of the above. I'll work on some better pictures.

Definitely unusual. On many of these obscure doubled dies, I often wonder how the hub touched just that one specific spot on the die without touching any adjacent areas. Cool find, well done. =)

Could be but maybe a die dent? Most definitely an interesting coin.

Very interesting! I'd like to see more doubling there to be certain this is a DDO, but this kind of doubling isn't unprecedented on 1943 quarters. See 1943 25¢ WDDO-016 and 1943-S 25¢ WDDO-008.

Thanks folks. Also, Tanman my exact thought on the 43s. I don't have the best picture capabilities but may eventually send it your way. The only other doubling I notice is inside the upper loop of the E.
