So I pulled this quarter a 1999 P Delaware and it looks to me like some other coins I have seen graded by PCGS. This coin is not plated. I am asking what you all think. Thanks for Sharing your thoughts.

Count me on team gold-plated for this one.

Looks like worn/wearing off gold plated coin. Have found a bunch of these in circulation over the years.
Still worth .25.

If it is plated then only worth 25 cents however it looks like a spitting horse, so now it may be worth more.

That was my first thought as well that it could have been gold plated, Then I did some searching and checking around on graded coins by PCGS that look very similar to the coin I posted. I have handled many gold plated coins too. Having this coin in hand and looking close up with a microscope it doesn't appear to have ever been plated. Please take a look at these and let me know what you think and if you see any similarity to the coin I posted. You all could be correct, but it sure looks much like those graded coins from PCGS. The weight is 5.6 grams.

Those coins look copper to me? Your coin could very well be just toned by something.

I think that this coin was not improperly annealed - if it were it would look like copper (just like the examples you put up..
A lot of coin can tone to a gold color, but in this is case I think it was wither painted or plated. I think that because all the high relief areas look normal and the fields area close to them are that goldish color. this tells me that the high areas through circulation and handling has worn off this color down to the coins natural color.

Thank you all for the input. Photos are hard to truly tell what is going on. Type of camera, lighting, etc. The first photos were taken with my digital microscope. This set of photos was taken with ambient lighting using my cell phone. Not trying to argue, just trying to share what I see with the coin in hand. I have searched over 7 million quarters over the years and have seen and inspected a lot of them, I have never seen one like this. I have handled thousands of plated and painted coins, not one ever that looks like this one. You could all be correct and I'm just wishful thinking. For me its not about being correct or wishing I had something special. Its about learning and understanding how these issues with coins take place and if I can make a correct judgement on any specific coin. I appreciate everyone for giving me an opinion. It definitely helps me learn and look at what others are seeing. With that being stated here is a set of photos I have taken with my cell phone.
