Hello fellow treasure hunters!

I found this 1972 Eisenhower dollar with a small circular dent on the obverse side in the center of the date (in between the '9' & '7').

Is it possible this could be a Rockwell Hardness Test Mark or just PMD?!

I do not think this is a test mark. Test marks were made before the strike and I see shine on yours plus metal movement.

A Rockwell test mark is usually towards the centre of the coin.
Also it will appear as an oval instead of a circle due to the distortion from the striking of the coin.
Yours is PMD.

Agree, looks to me to be a post-strike damage issue.

@aso, looks like you have plenty of responses about that round mark, but I want to advocate for you flattening the staples on your 2x2s so that these don't accidently scratch other coins.
