Your cent is copper plated zinc planchet. No clad. Copper seems to be worn or ?

Judging from the gouges and scrapes on the obverse, I'm thinking that the copper plating has worn off or been removed by environmental exposures during circulation.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

It appears that the lighting used in the photography varies a little. Seeing the coin-in hand would allow for a better assessment--simply can't evaluate with the posted pics. Can't rule out a possible cleaning at some point in the coin's past.

From these pics I agree, it could have been harshly cleaned at some point.

Might have spent time in a weak acid or base that attacked the copper plating.

Hey guys/gals you know smokers would use coins as ashtrays so not to burn a table? Seeing the 2 dark marks on the obverse has me leaning towards PMD caused by a cig.

I saw an 89 with the same type appearance from silverhound on YouTube during one of his weekly sales roundup videos that said the ones with the center looking like this one were faulty planchettes missing the copper plating and referred to it as partial clad error that's recognized as such. I can't figure out how to respond to particular comments.. just a button that says to report them to staff lol. I want to address the person who commented on the lighting: I don't get much natural light in here and my bulbs are warm so it's been rough trying to get the photos to look uniform and true. I have taken these photos with my phone but I've got some I've taken with a DSLR so I'm probably going to have to pull out the computer and upload photos from that. Also, to the guy who commented about smokers using them as ashtrays: I saw people do that in the 90s and totally forgot about it. As always, appreciate everyone who's taken time to look at my posts and respond &🙏;;

Quote: I saw an 89 with the same type appearance from silverhound on YouTube Forget about YouTube. It's a cesspool of clickbait just trying to make money. These cents are not clad, and anyone who says that isn't very knowledgeable.
