Is this another example of Machine Doubling on some of the letters of Monticello?

Should Machine Doubling show consistently across all letters? I see the (I'll call it shelf) on the left side of the first "O", but on the right side of the L's and second "O"
Thanks (I'm new, so am trying to get a handle on M.D.,vs Die Deterioration, etc)

You think it would but surprisingly No.

Guess I am going to be the dissenting opinion and call that Die Deterioration Doubling. The early 1970s era nickels had very thin lettering. If the letters had suffered MD, I think the missing metal would make them super thin. That melted butter look says DDD to me, and especially because it's spreading in opposite directions on opposing sides of center. It should be visible on Five Cents and USoA as well, and probably EPU. For whatever reason, DDD tends to spread outwards on nickels from 1938-1980s, then switched to centerwards for 2006+.

Just my Two Cents. I could be wrong.

There are a multitude of subtypes of MD, Rotational MD being one of them. In this case though, I think it's probably more than one thing.

Rotational Machine Doubling. https://www.error-ref.com/rotationa...ne-doubling/
