Hello, fellow coin fans. I recently purchased a new Dansco #7100 album, which is for Lincoln Cents from 1909-2009. I opted for the business strike only album, as I don't generally like mucking around with proofs.

A couple of goals I had for this album;
1. Have a set of coins that has many, many coins in it and takes a long time to assemble and have fun doing so. Probably years.
2. Find as many coins as I can in circulation from random finds/bank roll hunting, keeping myself on a budget.

Lincoln Cents, so far, seem to logically fit that criteria. Also, I already had about 10 or so wheat cents, and I was looking for a long term storage option for them besides 2x2 holders. The #7100 album wasn't available until recently, so I jumped it and purchased one.

That said, I know there are coins that I will most likely never obtain from circulation, if at all, namely the king of the series, the 1909 S VDB.

I picked up 20 dollars worth of penny rolls yesterday, and had many surprisingly good finds. This is a far cry from my last time that I tried penny roll hunting, where I literally found NOTHING!

Nothing like a brand spanking new Dansco album! Oh yeah!

First page! I only have one measly coin. I did, however, find this in circulation.

Skip to the third page, since I don't have any coins on the second unfortunately.

Was pretty happy yesterday to find this 46-S!

Found most of these yesterday.

This page is pretty interesting, with a variety of different looking coins.

This 1968-D is also really nice.

I was somehow able to find coins here that matched pretty well IMO

Same here

Last page. I think I am going to get into the shield cents as well.

A few goodies

I think this is the large date, but I'm not entirely sure?

Another I'm not entirely sure about

Another date I was surprised to find in circulation, and from a random change container no less!

Also another of the same kind of find! Was definitely surprised by this!

This 1939 was the earliest dated cent I found yesterday.

That's it for now! I do have a few coins coming that I purchased from ebay. 1909, 1916 and a 1916-S. This was decidedly before I decided I was going to try to find all coins in circulation. I know I will have to purchase some other ones down the line, mostly on the first page most likely.

Enjoy! Let me know what you think. And also, my apologies if I put this in the wrong section of the forums! Move if needed!

You have a long row to hoe but off to a good start. Double check the 1960. I think it is a small date but I can't see it very well. The 1960D is a large date so compare the 6's.

Thanks! Yeah, this could be a set like I said that takes years.

I will definitely double check. I wonder if there is some kind of book I could purchase that would benefit me?

Looking good. I've been searching Lincoln Cent rolls across several decades. The key is patience--lots of patience--persistence, and volume. With that approach--sorting through millions of Lincoln cents--I managed to load a 'circulation-sourced' Dansco to around the 85% level. Have never found any key dates, and only two semi-keys--a 1920 S and 1923 S. These two likely came from a collection dump where all the coins in three rolls acquired at a bank 10+ years ago were solid wheats. Have fun!

The standard " Red Book" is a must have for an aspiring numismatist. Lots of good information but don't rely on the values. If you can't afford a copy, check your local library.

Good start!

I have a half roll of duplicate wheats (some early dates like 1920 and 1921) and a 3/4 roll of memorial cents in AU/BU.

Email me your address and I'll send to you for free.

you are off to a great start! will love to follow your progress.
I'll post up an image of the 1960 large/small date comparisons for you.

I also move your topic to a better location for you so it can get more visibility

The upper stem of the 6 in the Large Date is much longer than the Small Date, and the top of the 1 is level with the 9 in the Small Date. Also the 0 is smaller with a more oval opening.

The 1960 Small Date is the most rare of the two but neither have much of a premium

Thank you! Appreciate it. And thank you for clarifying. This is definitely a bit more clear now.

That sounds good! Thanks a lot! I'll definitely send you an email today at some point.

Alright, so I found a few more Wheat cents today at work. I was quite surprised to find a 1910, though! I wish a key date would pop up. Lol. But this the oldest coin I've ever found in the wild to date.

Thank you! Here is another minor work find from today.

Nice to find another 2009 since they are supposedly pretty uncommon. I've never found one in bank rolls yet.

Thanks, jbuck! I am patiently waiting for the coins that hfjacinto sent me recently.

I also decided to dive into the shield cents as well, because I figured well, why not? Lol. The way the last page is designed of the album, it can accommodate business strike shield cents from 2010 until 2021. I will need another page to continue, which I plan on adding sooner or later.

That said, man, it was kind of difficult trying to get both P&D mints out of the batch of coins that I sorted through. Not entirely sure why, though. The hardest ones to find were both the 2010 P&D, and I still haven't found the P yet. Evidently, the 2010 has a much lower mintage than a lot of the others from what I've read? I could be wrong, though.

I also acquired these from ebay and they arrived today. This was before I decided to hunt entirely for coins through bank rolls mostly.

That's all for now, folks!
