I found an 1865 Three Cent Nickel at a coin show this weekend. It's graded MS 61 by NGC. I like Longacre's designs and firmly believe that he and Gobrecht are the best chief engraver's the mint ever had, or will have. |

Nice coin, congrats! I'm with you brother about the earlier classic designs. I'd much rather see a symbolic representation of Liberty than honoring of dead presidents or other human figures.

I'm 100% with MisterT, I like representations of Liberty, male or female! Leave the dead presidents and other honorees to commemoratives.

Unfortunately, that is deemed old fashioned these days. We could use a modern Liberty, but too many people also like to complain about the recent Liberty medal designs. I happen to like them and any one of them would have made a nice common obverse to replace the dead guys.
