PCGS - Check your change. This coin proves why. Struck in 1965, the year silver was phased out of the series, this Roosevelt dime was mistakenly struck on a 2.56 gram silver planchet instead of the standard 2.27g clad. Graded PCGS AU58, it's a rare survivor from the transition.

I finally kinda get to use my census data sort of.

This coin appeared at Heritage in March of 2024 and sold for $12,600

The cert link does not work anymore so it may have been resubmitted to try to get a MS grade.

Known specimens:
PCGS 3 in AU58
1 PCGS finer(MS62 highest)

NGC 1 in AU58
3 NGC finer (MS62 Highest)

Total
8 lower(4 ANACS, 2 PCGS, 2 NGC)
4 in pop(3 PCGS, 1 NGC)(includes this specimen)
4 finer(1 PCGS, 3 NGC)
16 total

Sadly, my small stash of '65 dimes does not include a silver example--double checked some time ago.
