#1 - Cleaned, rim damage - Pass #2 - Pit holes on cheek, damage next to the P on obverse - Pass #3 - A really nice MS 62 with strong eye appeal, and a chance for a CAC sticker. If you can afford it, buy it. I would make an offer of $750. Looks like it could have semi proof like fields. #4 - Looks like original skin and acceptable for grade but lacking eye appeal.

I offered $750. I think the coin is under-graded and is closer to MS 63 then 62. Absolute lovely ton-age and nice metal retention, reverse is just lovely with only one slight scratch at 9 o'clock and looks like a rub at 3 o'clock. Feathering is excellent. Rim is Lovely. Letters and numbers just leap out at you. I darn near gave him the $850 but didn't because $750 is more then fair but make no mistake, if I really, really wanted the coin I'd pay $825 for it. As it is I just want it, thats all. A nice VAM, the coin will retain its value. But theres a lot of Morgans out there if I dont get it. We'll see. Now that I'm sitting on my offer I really kinda want it but I'm going to hold fast at $750. I can afford it.

How do you feel this one ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/267222637304BTW I learn a lot when I hear the opinions of the experienced collectors here and am greatly appreciative for the opinions. Thank you.

All Morgan's are VAM's. It is a matter if the VAM adds value. I am not a VAM guy as it drives me crazy trying to figure out the VAM. The $699 example has muted luster. It may have had an old dip. It has some grime, but the grime should come off with a soak in Acetone. The grade would be from 58 to 62. I like the PCGS MS62 better at the higher price.

I woke up to this message this morning slider. What would you do ? The guy and place look Legit but I must say I'm a little nervous about it. I dont like buying outside of ebay and why would he sell on ebay, asking for offers, in the first place ? I just dont want the coin that badly to take the chance. https://www.ohionumismatics.com/Quote:New message from: ohionumismatics (2,388RED_STAR Star) Hi, I saw your offer of $750 on my 1880-CC 8/7 Morgan dollar in MS62. With the fees I have I can't go that low on ebay. However I'd do $750 via my website (ohionumismatics.com). My card with my info is on the last photo of the listing. Thanks, Victor

His site looks legitimate and the coin is listed there, but flouting ebay rules is sketchy. That said, I often use ebay to locate new APMEX listings, then go to APMEX to make the purchase at a substantial discount for cash. They use ebay to advertise their coins but they don't make off-eBay personal solicitations. I prefer the PCGS VG-8 listing. The GSA coins made uncirculated CC's the most common of all Morgans, and the circulated coins interest me more. Arguing about the difference between a MS62 and a MS63 is pointless IMO. GSA Morgans differentiate above MS65 or if they have mirror, but not in the lower MS. It is not worth paying a $500 premium over a VG8 to get a MS62.

I have never purchased a coin from ohionumismatics. Most sellers on ebay do not direct you to bypass ebay for a online purchase as ebay will bounce the seller for this action. I sold coins on ebay for a couple of years. The ebay fees are a real cost to sellers as a ebay store can be as low as 7.5% or 13.5% for none store coin sales. I have purchased a handful of coins that were displayed on ebay, but I made the purchase online at a lower cost. The website appears legitimate with quality photos and Victor has a good eye for what he wants to sell. The biggest protection that ebay offers is for a refund as a buyer can almost always get a refund. The 80CC coin is listed on Victor's website at $750. Victor has a number of coins that have a CAC sticker, so my guess is the example has been to CAC and failed. The 80CC is not rare and there are plenty of examples to choose from. If you are not comfortable bypassing ebay - Pass

Yeah but do you make the different transaction or does APMEX suggest it ? Flouting ebay rules ? And in a personal Email no less. This guy has been in business all of 9 mos and has sold 4.4 K items on ebay already. His 5 star reviews all look like its the same review with only the words exchanged. https://www.bizapedia.com/oh/ohio-n...ics-llc.htmlhttps://www.ebay.ca/str/westohiophi...tab=feedbackMaybe he is Legit. Maybe he isn't. How hard would it be to make a webpage, sell of a few junk coins, and then go <poof> ? A high demand Morgan, low mint Morgan I'm already suspicious of. Either way I dont know the guy and have no reason to trust him. With ebay at least you have a garuntee. APMEX would be a different story. I KNOW they exist and can be trusted but I'm not sending some total stranger my CC # so he can send me a cull 1921 and keep $700 of my money. I have no reason to trust him and just dont want to coin badly enough to take the chance.

I offered $234 on the VG8. The coin is worn and its rim is very weak but it has pretty strong Legend and denom, a strong motto. In fact all its lettering and numbers look good. Quote: It is not worth paying a $500 premium over a VG8 to get a MS62. I agree. And this coin is worth $234 easily. This one is a real beauty. I dont blame him for not entertaining offers. https://www.ebay.com/itm/167453409677OK my offer of $234 was just accepted. I got the coin. Its definitely worth $234 I think. Also its a good thing I checked up on ebay, which I'm rather new to, and retracted that $750 offer because it was still up and running with only 5 hours left on it. The seller never retracted it and for all I know he still would have sold it. And on reflection I didn't want it anymore after buying this one for much less and I just didn't want to do business with this guy anyway.

Here are a couple of my favorite cc's lying on a V&T waybill I picked up in Carson. What I paid for these worn half eagles is less than today's melt. Not any more. All Carson gold comes with a stiff premium these days.

All Carson gold comes with a stiff premium these days. Sweet, very sweet. You know my offer of $234 was literally accepted within 2 minutes of making it which leaves me wondering if I could have gotten it even cheaper.. Anyhoo how many graded 1880CC's are you going to find for $234 ?
