*** Edited by Staff to Add Year and/or Mintmark and/or Denomination to Title. It's essential to have it in the title. ***

I was looking through a roll of 1970 dimes and noticed that one dime's reverse seemed to be more intense/defined than the others. I do know that the 1969 & 1970 P and D dimes have errors regarding their having a 1968 reverse. My question is, do I have such an error? I have attached three photos two with the normal smooth torch and a third with more deep rutted and distinct torch lines. Your opinion please?

Are these proofs? If so, then the reverse is normal. Also, it's a variety, not an error. Big difference.

Appears to be a proof? Full, large and sharp pics of the obverse and reverse can tell us more. Thanks.

My apologies, yes these are San Francisco dimes. That's the discrepancy, has this variety ever been noted on a Proof dime? What could cause the visible deep lines on the first coin and not the others?

The torch on this coin is normal for a aproof coin.

Is that where they get the metal for these coins?

I think what you are seeing is different levels of cameo on two of your dimes, the more grooved one has none which makes it shine more and details are clearer.
