I recently got back a slabbed 1936 Lincoln Cent that I sent to PCGS . Please see attached photo.

Even in the photo, pretty clear doubling can be seen on the G, O and R of the motto, the bottom of the E in liberty and the 6 in the date.

What am I missing here?

Here is a photo of another presumptive 1936 Lincoln Cent DDO FS-101 that wasn't attributed.

it is hard to tell if either of these are DDO-anything with current images.
Can you provide us a close up of your coin where you see doubling?

Sorry. I just got these back online. So, it will be a few days.

In the first photo, the doubling in the lower right leg of the R of TRUST is clearly visible. So is the doubling on the right side of the 6 in the date. Less so the bottom of the G in GOD.

I'm not seeing it with pics provided... FS-101 has some extreme doubling...

Your coin isn't showing any doubling. It's not FS-101. Next time before sending it in to be graded, post it on CCF first. We could of have saved you a lot of time and money.

I too am not seeing the separation/spread on the date, liberty & IGWT. It would be a really strong spread. https://www.pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin...101-bn/37748

I am seeing doubling but will wait for better photos. I'd guess WDDO-005 from what I can see.

Not all doubled dies are given "FS" numbers and this is clearly not FS-101.

If you give us the certification number we could look up the PCGS photos ourselves.

Please also post a full reverse photo for this and other coins.

Almost all DDOs need both obverse and reverse photos for attribution. Many of them have clear die markers that can identify them at a glance, although we should always verify every part of a variety's identity before making a call.

Your coin has an intact "R" in LIBERTY, rather than the rehubbed "R." That alone rules out all of the big three 1936 DDOs. In addition, all of the big three have doubling that is visible to the unaided eye, although in lower grades the DDO-003 may only show lines in the lettering or at AG-03 or G-04 may only show much thicker numbers and letters. The indentation on the lower right leg of your coin"s "R" is a circulation hit.

The 1936 DDO-001 is a truly rare variety. It is a major doubled die, on par with the key 1917, 1955, 1958, 1969-S, and 1972 doubled dies.

Cert # 59087781

Cert # 59087782

However, I don't see that the following PCGS circulation grade attributed FS-101s are that much different:

Cert # 26145706

Cert # 40106479

If you are interested in getting minor variety coins graded and attributed try ANACS - and you have to mention you want the variety verified..

In the variety world different is different. Being somewhat different is the same as being completely different.

Your coin is top and the example you referenced is bottom. Getting use to spotting these differences will help you identify varieties better.

I remember you made 4 different thread for 1936 Wheat penny and just one has the same doubling on the date as the low coin on the image that coinHI post above, the others 3 are not DDO

Here is the link of that specific one :
