Not sure much else, but I found this interesting...
"...once was the sole source of supply of certain felt cloths used in the printing of paper money by the United States Bureau of Printing and Engraving. Making the felt cloths since 1831. This factory consumed six to seven tons of wool per week. In total it had 80 employees. It used water power from the Contoocook River..."
Ah! The image appears to match the medal. So he was one of Joseph's four sons. I assume at least one other was involved in the business with him. Good find!
