New to coins and have no idea how to grade this. The details all still look really good to me, but I don't know about the weird line on the reverse.

Judging by comparisons my optimistic guess would be VF or XF, but let me know if I'm wrong. Thanks for the help!

I'll say VF. I'm not seeing any mint luster, so that'll be my guess.
Errers and Varietys.

Looks like it might be EXF , pretty strong devices .
There is light environmental damage , could be easily
removed via numerous safe methods .

looks to have xf sharpness. If that is ink on the reverse acetone might help remove it.

Definitely a great candidate for professional conservation and grading.

It could make AU-50 to these old man's eyes of mine.

Even if it only makes XF it is still a very nice coin to have! So, congrats are in order no matter what it grades!

Looks like AU details with full breast feathers, and as stated a good candidate for conservation. I would venture to say the blue green on the reverse was from a rubber band broken and in place for decades.

XF45/AU50 (details) i'd try acetone soak on her but it wont change the fact that the coin was cleaned at some point. it could give it a little better eye appeal and therefore increase the value

Solid XF detail and the cleaning (if any) is minor. I'd give it an acetone soak if it were mine. Problem-free certified examples in XF sell for around $400 so you might consider getting it graded.

Underneath the crust is a really solid coin. I can see this pushing 53 if it's conserved properly.
