I like this coin. Except for the cheek it seems to fully deserve its MS62 rating. The eagles neck and breast feathers look particularly good. The strike looks decent as well. Is this a VAM 5 ? And do you think the cheek takes away from its MS62 rating ?

Its priced within reason and I'm ready to pop on it. I dont have a 1878 8TF right now. Thanks. Its a little weak on the Obv is my concern.

That's why it's a 62 - the cheek problems are very common for that grade.

Notwithstanding I like the coin. I wish it was just the cheek however. Above the ear and the eye look a little weak to me, as does the nose. The strike on the lettering, especially the Obv is kind of weak.

Still all in all I can't help but like the coin. The Eagle itself looks very good. I'll have to sleep on it. I'm way over budget, as usual, already this month.

Looks like it has some great luster and semi-PL. Nice coin!

I ended up canceling the order. I dont like operating like that cause all you have in this world is your word and I can get awfully impulsive not wanting a coin to get away. But even APMEX was beating this seller by over $90 so $450 is just out of the question.

Its not a top 100 VAM or anything. Its just a '78 8TF MS62. I got right back to the buyer with apologies so he'll have to live with that.

She already replied back and was gracious about it. This was thru Executive so they are a legitimate dealer and often their prices are fair, if not bargains. The cyber-space is full of these coins much cheaper so I'll get one in time. There are a lot of interesting VAMs in the '78 8TF coins , including several "Wows" and I'd love to have one some day.https://www.vamworld.com/wiki/1878-...ail_Feathers
