i was thinking of all the coins these 2 men are on and was wondering who is on the most coins? George is on the Quarter and abe is on the cent but when we get to the Statehood Quarters they are both on mount rushmore and george is on the New Jersy and Abe is in Illinos abe is on the back of all cents from 59 to present so I am thinking there are probly a couple of coins I am forgetting but it looks like abe is in the lead

Some say that George is 25 times the man Abe is, but others counter that Abe is 5 times the man George is. All I know is that I'd give you 100 Abes for one George and 5 Georges for one Abe. Or maybe 500 Abes for 1 Abe. Depends on what you need.
Now Benjamin Franklin - there's somebody I'd like to meet...he seldom visits my wallet.

Interesting thread idea, Yotie!
Abe is also on the new Lincoln silver dollars, as well as the Illinois centennial commemorative half.
And I'm not sure if all the mintages are known, but George was on several early colonial coins, I believe.
As far as adding up the mintages and seeing who is in the lead... well, I'll leave that to someone else!

I agree, KenKat... Mr. Franklin is someone I would love to sit down and have dinner with.

I myself would like to have dinner with Woodrow Wilson (even if his complexion is a bit pinkish orange), but I doubt the authorities would be enthusiastic.

"Most coins" is ambiguous. Do you mean "most number of actual coins struck", or "most number of different types of coins"?
For "most number of actual coins struck", surely the sheer weight of numbers of the issue of 1¢ coins would push the balance in Lincoln's favour.
For "most number of different types of coins", I'd back Washington. Especially if you count each and every state and territory quarter design as a "different type", since he's on every single one of them.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Quote: and didnt they have a george 1/2 dollar in the 80's ? Yeah, it was a commemerative half dollar. Minted 1982 I believe. It was actually the first coin of what is commonly referred to as the "modern commemeratives".

Ben Franklin is one of my personal hero's. Scientist, Inventor, Diplomat, and probably the only politician I can honestly say that I respect. He is truly one of history's "great American's". The more I read about him, the more I respect the man, which is just the opposite of most of our politician's nowadays. ~ Jim

I would agree with Jim's thoughts about Franklin. He could do so many things, and do them well. Of course let's not forget that he adored the opposite sex and found it impossible to do without them for very long. Very interesting man.
