I just gotta wonder why determining authenticity is so difficult for a slew of ebay coin sellers--why all the mystery? Maybe the experts can chime in--was the 1797 $1 struck in a collar? For starters, that rim is all wrong. $44 already for a flea-market trinket!

Obvious fake. Someone will be taken. The fact that the seller can't spell should have been a tip off right away. Oh well.

How many 1797 dollars have 8 stars left, and a total of 15 stars? That should be enough explanation

That maybe one of the worst fakes I have seen. I find it amazing that the effort is that poor, from letter and numeral alignment to the number of stars. They did not even take time to count. Jim

Im not sure what type of coins they were, but I've seen 2 or 3 auctions where it says the coin is a fake, yet the one coin sells for over $100 dollars(and it wasnt an auction where it says you get a FAKE COIN and WHATEVER just happens to come with it). Also, with coins like this that are obviously fake, somebody always bids on it.
