What Was This Coin With A Bite Out Of The Rim Doing In A Mint Set? (2004 "pointy A" 20c)

Didn't notice the bite out of the rim on the obverse until putting it into a 2x2. If this is PMD how did it end up in a mint set? Report this Post to the Staff

I am certainly not an expert and would defer to to the opinions of the previous posters as being a better idea of what the cause is. I bought a 'mint' set and when I received it and looked closer, I could see that one of the coins was definitely not an original in the set. The original coin had been replaced by one from circulation and the packaging resealed. Too bad for me - I didn't realise that immediately. My set was purchased on ebay and now I very rarely buy from ebay - too many dodgy sellers and ebay don't care (still get their commissions). Did you get that set directly from the RAM or another reliable seller? Report this Post to the Staff

It does look more like some Grease Fill 'error' from the surface but edge damage. Certainly odd.
