Went to the bank yesterday and my favorite teller who knows I collect quarters told me that a customer brought in 29 rolls of mint issued quarter rolls. She said the customer's father collected coins and he had passed away. So, she was getting rid of them. As such, I purchased all 29 rolls.

They're a mixture of State, ATB and U.S. Territories, both P and D. Some of the rolls are the lessor mintage ones like Guam, Mariana Islands, Yellowstone and Glacier.

Here's my question. Would you open the rolls and look for anomalies, or leave them in their current unopened state and possibly sell them as is? I would imagine I could get $12-$14 each for them.

What would you do?

I would leave them as is.

I believe the end coins in the D.C. roll show the reverse. I should at least check it out. I think I can see the piano keyboard.

There's only 1 roll of D.C.quarters, and it's a "P". Were there D.C. DDR's from the Philadelphia mint?

Nice score!

I am always tempted to open, especially since my E&V interests have grown. But I can understand the reluctance to leave them alone. You might be able to fetch a decent premium from a roll collector.

It really comes down to your goal: profit or finding little treasures.
