I'm planning to attend a coin show later this year but it's been since quite a while since I've been to one. My question is what do you bring or wear to carry the coins and supplies you buy? I've seen conflicting information on old threads. Some say backpacks, others say no backpacks. Some say carry a bag, others say no bag. I plan to wear cargo pants, but those can only hold so much. Would a drawstring bag work, worn on my back, or maybe a camera case over the shoulder?

A cross body 'sling' bag might work--they come in a range of sizes, and can have one to three or so zippered compartments. Does the show organizer have any restrictions?

That's a great idea, thanks! Seems like the most secure option, having it across the chest.

I don't know actually. There are no restrictions posted on the website, but I'll send them an email.

Trick is to make yourself as inconspicuous
as possible!
No big bag or case , as little cash as you can
no loud coin related conversation, dress down
as comfortably and neatly as possible .
Also keep an eye out for the Colombian tourist
crooks that seem to frequent every show these days.
Other than that you should be ok!

That's exactly what I carry when I attend my yearly show. Depending on the time of year, I can even wear a jacket over it so it's hidden from view.

Take a good quality 10 X magnifying glass.

Fortunately for myself I have had both eyes fixed with fixed focal length cataract lenses, and for driving I don't need glasses any more.

However, I do take a cheap pair of 4X glasses with me to provide easy binocular vision. Leaves both hands free.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I use cash only, and that fixes me to a strict budget limit at the show.
I have never had a credit card in my life and I never do electronic payments, so I have a very small digital footprint. The result is that I have never been scammed.

My usual strategy at a coin show is to preview every dealers' offerings, and pick out any coin that may take my interest. I go back to those coins and negotiate a price. Such a strategy has serve me well over decades, in that I most often buy at a good price.
Cash often helps me in the negotiation.

I have small messenger bag that I sling in the front. Although I do like the idea of small cross-body sling-bag but I worry it wouldn't have the capacity for the items I carry (books for example).
