It's also a reminder that Americans' refusal to use a dollar coin really predates the Washington one dollar note. Maybe the refusal to use dollar coins in the 19th century are different to reasons now, but I do think there's an emotional (and irrational) attachment now to the dollar bill. It's nuts to me that even today billions of one dollar coins sit unused. I wonder if the metal in modern dollar coins will ever prompt a "sale" of the ones from recent decades akin to the GSA sale of Morgan's.
