I have a couple of pennies that are like this one and I don't know what it is. I am just learning and you guys are all very kind in helping us newbies.

This penny has a silver color showing on the inside of the rim along the words on the reverse. (My camera will not lift high enough for a pic of the whole coin, so I did what I could) Also, are the letters in UNUM doubled die?

thank you in advance

It has been a widely issue with plating on zinc core cents since inseption. The silverish spots you notice are result of split plating where the Zinc core has been exposed.

That is split plating, fairly common on zincoins and not considered an error.

Yes, split plating. Too, appears that Die Deterioration is in-play as well.

No - just some Machine Doubling or Die Deterioration Doubling as I also see a Ridge Ring forming on both the obverse and reverse from worn dies..
