I've been doing some reading on Longacre Doubling. I haven't previously delved into Indian Head cents and Shield nickels. I had naively assumed that it would appear on most specimens. Is that not the case? I took a quick look through the PCGS image catalog for 1883 nickels, and only found a few possible examples.
Is the coin on the second link an example of Longacre Doubling on the reverse?
@bran, I was thinking that Longacre doubling mostly was on just Indian Head cents, but yes that does look like it on the EPU for that certified coin in your link. I'm interested to hear what others think though as I'm not very sure about it mostly occurring on IHCs.
