I've read most of the posts about whether folks are still getting the new 2024 and 2025 Morgan and Peace dollars from the Mint. Many of you said you're getting the Uncs but not the Proofs. I'm wondering why. Assume you're answering someone new to collecting.

Good question. I only have examples for my extended type set and have not bought any since the 2023 two coin reverse proof set.

I got all the offerings from 2021 and 2023 (there were none released in 2022), then bowed out.
I think in general UNCs have lower mintages than Proofs. It's very much that way in the gold commemoratives at least, and perhaps people here collect based on that trend. Maybe.

I recently ordered the 2024 and 2025 uncirculated Peace dollars from the mint. I have ordered the 2023 and 2024 uncirculated and proof Morgan and Peace dollars from other sellers (except the one from the mint). The reason? Price. Reputable sellers selling this for as much as 40% below the mint price. I picked up the Morgan 2024 Dollars for $51.50 a piece, as an example.

We all decide what we like to collect. I got all the 2021, 2023 then decided to stop. I'm mostly a stacker, spend more on bullion, bars, rounds, junk silver than on collectible coins but I enjoy some of both.
Some new mint products increase in collectible value over time, but in my opinion many do not go up a lot, some are break even or worth less than mint price (not counting spot prices of the metals).

I got the complete 21 set, the PR 2023 and REV PR 2023 as those was just what I wanted. I wish they didnt make the 2024 REV PR as it didnt sell well to begin with, how would they sell another year at A) higher price and B) a higher mintage limit... Oh well.
Collect what you want. I do find it funny you can find 2023/2024 UNC for less than mint price. They oversaturated the market with what should have been a 1 year product and decided to make it a yearly product.

I have Always sought the " Uncirculated " versions of Most Classic American Coinages, Proof is Sweet, Just not an Unc........ I too collected the " modern " versions of The Morgan and Peace dollars. I Will collect till I decide No More.... Another Quote: Coincollector123 Stated, " Collect what you want. I do find it funny you can find 2023/2024 UNC for less than mint price. We have Known the U S Mint's over-charge for " anything " that leaves the Buildings.. The fact that We can purchase these @ a Lower Price in Aftermarket venues, Anytime , Clearly reflects that vision. Johnny42, Great Topic, Thanks , MD

I looked on ebay for the older releases and sure enough, they're selling for less than the Mint charged. I'll get the 2025's because of the low mintage (150,000). Going forward, if I see the 2025's on ebay 9 months from now at less than $91, I'll stop getting them from the Mint.

The 2023 Reverse proof set should have been one and done. Issuing them every year makes it less special.

I have continued to buy the Unc, Proof and Reverse Proof. Lots of folks giving up this year, so maybe it will be a low mintage
