do you think this coin grades f-12 I know every one grades coins differently but I don't think there is enough hair or ear detail on the obverse. maybe I just grade to conservatively and I have a bunch of under graded coins in my album http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...TRK:MEWAX:IT

I think I would call that one VG-10 although that slight grade difference doesn't make much of a difference in value. The bigger question is why would someone get a coin like that graded? Yes, it could have been a free submission but I still find it pointless to slab a $10-15 coin even if it was a free slabbing because it adds absolutely nothing to that coin other than a piece of plastic. Seriously, if you don't have a better coin to use your free grade on then maybe you shouldn't be shelling out the big bucks to get PCGS slabs in the first place

i agree I would call it vg-10. true that doesn't make much of a difference on value but other more valuable coins it could have. that's why you buy the coin and not what the slab says.

Ditto, VG-10. The seller has it as an AU58 in his/her listing, though.

I'm not a pro, but going by the book for F-12, Wheat Lines Worn but Visible, which it does have. So I call it F-12!

Judging by the obverse detail, I'd say PCGS was a bit generous with that coin.

I would also say that this is no higher than VG-10.

I would have graded it VG8. Even the pros have an off day - that coin should not have gone as Fine.

vg 10 even though the reverse is nicer the obverse is holding the coin back. I do not believe in averaging a coin grade if the 2 sides differ. The lower of the 2 grades win, but you might be of a differing opinion.
