I attended the Central Valley Coin & Collectibles Show in Modesto, CA on 08/01. Three local coin clubs decided to pool their efforts to create a larger regional show, rather than putting on smaller individual events. It was a well-run show with maybe 35 dealers. They offer a prize raffle plus hourly giveaway coins and I was encouraged to see that the grand raffle prize was a 1904-S Liberty double eagle; a pretty awesome prize for any show!

Anyway, the great thing about any show is that you can wander around and wait for something special to catch your eye. This time, it was my wife who spotted a nice coin that appealed to both of us. I was pleased to bring it home. What are your opinions on grade and quality?

Nice and original, I'd say it has AU-53 sharpness.

I'll give it a no problem AU-50. Strike a bit weak, so TPG may only give it an XF. Good eye appeal.

I'd estimate AU-53 BN for this piece. It seems exceptionally well-balanced to me: good strike, lovely original color, no sign of cleaning or other abuse. I agree the defect on E of CENTS is as-struck. It's a keeper!
Thanks for your comments.

Based on my rating comment above, compared to the other opinions, CAC would hire me.
