This coin is raw but looks MS to me. What do you think about the toning? Fair price to pay would be?

I would first check sold/completed sale info on ebay for a similar piece--not asking price. Nice coin.

That's very nice looking coin. I think it should be graded.

I've been looking for years for one without toning, don't know why but it seems like a higher % of these are toned compared to other commemoratives of this era........................Coin looks good to me...
If that was a graded coin in 64.....@ 4 to 450....MS65....@ 6 to 8.... that's just me

What is the provenance on this coin? Do you have it in hand and able to share an accurate weight?

There are a lot of counterfeits of this coin out there. I'm not convinced this example is genuine.

Show us better photos of the upper rim of the gold miners pan and the font on HALF DOLLAR. If you don't have the coin in hand ask the seller to do so.

don't have the coin. Sellers pictures online. Counterfeit comment is a bit concerning.

The coin presented appears to be a fairly nice example, but the images shown leave me with questions.

In the images provided, I see multiple areas that are missing expected details and/or are flat. My eyes can't tell me if this is the result of wear, a soft strike or simply an artifact of the lighting used for the image. Also, I see some chatter in the fields.

As a result, I would grade the piece - if genuine - as a high AU (i.e., AU-55 / AU-58) or low- to mid-MS (i.e., MS-61 / MS-62). Check online auction sites for "sold" prices of such-graded coins.

In any case, I would not pay a premium price for the coin as I don't see it as a premium example. Just my opinion, of course, your mileage may vary.

I would pass on it, too many minor discrepancies.
Either that or have seller certify it first.
This whole series of commemorative halves have
counterfeited.

Thanks for the help evaluating the coin. Liked the design of the coin but am not all that familiar with grading one. Decided to pass on this one.

Hello and Thanks for sharing this Beautiful Commemorative 1925- S California Jubilee Half coin.

Commems Stated: Quote :
" In the images provided, I see multiple areas that are missing expected details and/or are flat. My eyes can't tell me if this is the result of wear, a soft strike or simply an artifact of the lighting used for the image. Also, I see some chatter in the fields. "

We See Alike, Well Stated.

Commems Also Stated : Quote : " As a result, I would grade the piece - if genuine - as a high AU (i.e., AU-55 / AU-58) or low- to mid-MS (i.e., MS-61 / MS-62). "

While the coin shown does exhibit " chatter ", Which is Difficult judging from a photo, Mint State is Hard to judge Without the Coin in Hand.

@ Commems, I Could see a Mint State 62, If coin is Not Wear after in hand inspection.

Commemorative coins that date back from 1925, Will Be Toning @ some point in time ......
