There is an unusual raised feature in this 1955-D mint mark. It's hard to tell if it's a die scratch, Die Deterioration flow, or possibly a minor D/S. I know that Wexler lists way more 1955-D OMM than Variety Vista, but I'm not sure of what I'm seeing. Definitely a challenge to photograph.

Just my opinion, but I am thinking it's from Die Deterioration.

Could well be. Mostly what caught my eye is the way the sloped features behind the D post could conform to an S getting filed out of the die surface.
