Hi Guys , I was reading about these in a recent newsletter.I wondered if anybody amongst us has one, worth checking id imagine.
The error appears on seated liberty of 1857 quarter,of course it shouldnt be too long before any and all years is available on ebay.
What an odd error though , she looks all the world like shes holding a cigarette.

I get it......but I don't get it. Has this been a big thing before or just something recently?

Pretty cool huh ? Only one guy knew , he must have been sweating looking at 30,000 quarters while keeping quiet.I wonder if it was worth his while when you see the paltry sum they went for.

I assume that they sold for a fairly low price based upon your above quoted statement! If so, then the reason for the low price is, 1. the coins were sold too soon after the news broke and interest in this new Variety had not been established and 2. the news devulged how many were found thus diminishing their' rarity. I know all too well about how devulging too much information or the total of a find of a Variety effects the selling price. In my excitement to tell others about certain finds, I have many times devulged too much information about my find and suffered the effects of it as the coins sold for much less than they should have. Oh well, you live and learn!

I think you got it spot on Frank , not enough people knew. Not enough interest.Im going after one or two in the hope the price goes up in the next few years..never know , and if it doesn't..i like seated libertys anyway.
The selling prices are in the article , in the link.

As a side note I've seen suspect Seated dimes claiming to be smoking libertys since this news broke.
