Hello Community, I'm Scootercar and this is my first ever post. I'm retired and live in Washington state. I very much enjoy coin collecting and now want to try some selling. I collect mostly pennies and quarters and my first coin I need help with is a 1973 D penny that weighs 2.28. What is my best course of action? Get it graded? Post it on ebay?

The scale says 3.28 grams not 2.28 grams. 3.2 is heavy but not so heavy that there would be a premium on it.

I see a circulated 1973-D cent that is within Weight Tolerance. Value is 1 cent.

With the +- tolerance, it could weigh up to 3.24g so you only .04g over,
probably from a slightly thick planchet. Certainly not enough to try to sell.

Aye, I'm thinking struck on a slightly thick planchet as well. Personally, I wouldn't try to sell it--just my opinion.

To CCF! Your coin is slightly overweight. It's still within tolerances. No premium.

@scootercar - Slightly overweight, certainly not worth the cost of grading.
