Adding pics from this auction so that folks can compare to the real ones:

The "no returns" part always bothers me. If the coin is exceedingly rare and valuable why wouldn't the seller take it back?

That seller has quite a few other coins, but hasn't been able to sell any in the last year.

It's possible but futile.

Just noticed that seller has this listed in Draped Bust quarters, although states Dollar in title, description, and AI-generated blurb.

I reported it, but I did not list any issues with the coin. The fake is better than most.

Here is the Dupont 1804 dollar that is showing wear and was graded Proof 30. The type 1 was minted in 1834 or 1835 as gifts to Asian diplomats. From what I am reading it did not find it way into circulation, so it may have been a pocket piece. This example now resides at the Smithsonian.

It is clear that ebay does not want items reported as they have hidden the report item tag. To report an item there is now a question mark (?) in the bottom right corner of your device that can be clicked to bring up the report item box. Some counterfeit coins still get taken down, but I am not sure of the on what the most successful process is to get a counterfeit removed.

As a small time seller, I can think of several reasons: 1. I do not need looky-loo buyers forcing me to repeat successful auctions. A looky-loo probably just slightly outbid a serious buyer who actually wants to own the coin. 2. Items that get relisted for auction immediately puts the seller under suspicion for manipulating the previous auction or for selling a problem coin hidden by flattering images. 3. There is zero guarantee that the buyer will return the coin in the same condition as it was shipped. Raw coins can be mishandled or damaged, and even slabbed coins can be exposed to moisture or have their plastic compromised. That is completely unprovable, so ebay will probably stick you with a ruined coin and no refund. 4. There is no guarantee that the return shipping will be successful. If USPS loses the insured coin, that is a pointless hassle.

I just honestly feel that ebay is mostly a person-to-person transaction site. Businesses can have a return policy, but I don't feel the need to be someone else's Costco or Amazon shopping experience.

Looks like someone didn't do their due diligence and research it first.
