I'm planning on sending a few coins to PCGS in the near future including this one, primarily for preservation purposes on this one. See this post for some family history on this one. https://goccf.com/t/439789&SearchTerms=BG-224While a grade is not required on the paperwork, the estimated value is required, and this ties into grade. PCGS places the value of 62, 63, 64 and 65 at $395, $460, $575, and $1,350, respectively. Top pop is 65 with a population of 2. My photo quality is not the best, but I think the coin is MS, might it be on the upper end, I don't know. With the significant differences in values should I place a grade on the form that coincides with the value? And what would you suggest for grade/value based on what you see here. Below my photos, see examples of PCGS coins graded 62-65. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I've never submitted anything to a TPG before.       Edited by adam126402 10/16/2025 01:41 am

 Nice looking coin. Look forward to learning something from this thread. The 62 and 63 look better to me than the 64 above so not gonna be able to weigh in on grade.

the lighting is not sufficient to see the surfaces properly.
i'll take a stab at MS63 but reserve the right to adjust it if you repost with better lighting. I feel there's more to the coin we cant see

Your pictures aren't great, the coin is also slightly off struck so that might or might not be taken into the grade. My recommendation is go with ms62 and if grades higher than 64 (doubtful) PCGS will charge you the difference. Not worth putting in MS64 and having it grade AU58 they won't give you the difference back.

These were pretty crude. This one looks like a nice MS-64.

This is the best I can do photo wise with my limited technology and skills. Looking at the coin with a 20x loupe, the most notable blemish is the nick on the neck as can be seen in the first set of photos and this new set. With the lighting, I made that nick pop relative to what I see with the loupe. It is nothing more than an insignificant hairline at the worst, IMO. Of course on such a tiny coin, 9mm dia and 0.3 grams, any defect might be deemed significant. Reading the fine print on PCGS submissions, fractional gold must be submitted under either Economy Special Issues (max coin value of $300) for a fee of $35 or Special Issues (max value of $10,000) for a fee of $70 As even MS62 has a PCGS value of $395, I will have to submit under Special Issues for a fee of $70.00. Also, vouchers can't be used for Special Issues, economy or not. Hence grade and value mean nothing on this one. I may just plug in MS65 and $1,300, it won't cost me anything more unless I'm missing something? By the way, In addition to preservation, I also wanted the attribution on this dateless coin.
