I'm just curious, (I've never sent anything off) how many people intend to send off their Proof Lincolns for a grade and slab ? If so, which Grading Co. will you use ?
How many people don't normally do this, but because of the "Lincoln Craze", you're going to now !
How many "first timers" are going to act once they've received their Proof Sets ?
Or will you just leave the coins in the O.G.P. and leave the "Set" intact (or crack the O.G.P. to put into albums) and have no interest in grading your 2009 Lincolns ?

You know, it they were eventually really commanding some kind of ungodly premium for PF65's or even 70 Dcam grades.....it sort of makes me ponder if I would have a Set or two sent off for "slabbin' "

I will get a set of PF-69 from PCGS just to have them.

My feeling is I will eventually be able to get them on ebay cheaper then I could get them graded my self.

I figure with Shipping and fees they will cost at least $80 to send in.

I have no desire whatsoever to have them graded.

What reason is there? I am not planning to sell them and I do not have any other slabbed coins.

I purchased 2 sets, one to crack open and put into Dansco's and one set to keep together as a set. I too have no desire to have them slabbed. Now if prices go coo coo, I may change my mind.

I agree. What is the point. I also have no intent to sell, and would it really be worth it to ship, and pay for the grading on a coin like that?

Yeah, "grading & slabbing" is certainly not a world I've been a part of previously......and I'm 99.8% sure that will continue to be the case. I've never sold a coin.....and don't ever intend to, but occasionaly the temptation is there when I have "extra" or when something is "hot".......it's just very tempting ! And I have no idea if these will get that "hot" where this would be worthwhile or not.......just a "what if" kind of pondering.

It's just that if "high grades" began to, at some point, command ridiculous premiums.....I wonder whether I would "wade in" and try it or not.....
But Gold and Silver "hikes" never caused me to "flinch" ......so I'm sure I can stay strong during the "Lincoln Craze" too ! .....

.......umm.....yeah.....I agree ......... A 95% Copper 2009 Lincoln of any design will NEVER go for $1,000.00 per coin !!

Geez !......Even my Proof 2006 Gold Buffalos might not get $1,000.00 !

To someone who does sell coins this is a very keen idea, not everyone buying coins has the "knowledge" to do the right thing and the TPG'S have created this "sense of security" among other things, people just feel better when they have a authenticated coin, IMHO. I have in my 45+ years of collecting sent to ANACS, 2-coins for authentication and grading, and do not hold a strong favorable opinion of doing this, except for the "key dated coins", which I did.........
PS: "Eagleye" When is the tornado season usually upon your area? Where's Dorothy?
Rest in Peace

Not I! It is in plastic now! I have removed and replaced it for taking pics (acquisitions thread) But in my eyes they are PR70 May pick up a set of NGC or PCGS if they are over slabbed and cheap enough, I.E. The Silver Eagles

Plan to keep them as is.

The only thing I have been sending to NGC are silver State Quarters to get graded working on two complete sets to leave the kids. Hope they appreciate it along with want to many other coins I do have to many have to try and sell some off but like others just hate to part with any.

A couple months ago I said to myself I am crazy for saving all these rolls of President dollars took a couple hundred to the bank cashed them in. I could not sleep that night why did I do that the next day I went back to the bank they still had them and bought them back just hate to part with any of my coins but know I must thin out the safe to make room for more or get another gun safe WOW the wife would not be happy about that at all.

March, April, May, June, July, August, September.........

"Technically" our "season" is April-May-June....but no one told Mother Nature this !
Kansas is "the heart" of the sweeping arc known as "Tornado Alley" !

And where is Dorothy ?.......Well, that's kind of a sad story really ! After her trip "back" to OZ, she took over all of Munchkin land and employed the winged monkeys to keep things in check. She became a terrible dictator/landlord and soon put herself into the Wicked Witch of the East's former throne (the one she killed you remember).
The Ruby Slippers gave her an undeniable power which allowed her to rule half of this place with an iron fist. Our Kansas Governor, Katleen Sebelious pleaded with her time and time again to cease and desist with this dictatorial behavior, and to just come back home to Kansas and work her Aunt and Uncle's farm.......but to no avail.
Dorothy, Gov. Sebelious, and Toto, are not too likely to ever be seen in Kansas again, from what I gather.
