I've been looking at series that do not seem to have expensive "stoppers." That's one thing I love about Jeffersons, no coins like this. Another series that occurred to me that do not have any coins like this in them, from what I can tell, the Sacagawea dollars. I mean, unless you are counting that specific, rare 2000 Cheerios dollar. They also have a ton of coins in the series, given the fact that they have been made every year since 2000. They definitely sort of seem to be underappreciated and I don't see sets of them very often. I have a small assortment of them in the back of my SBA album in a blank page. Perhaps, at some point, I will look into assembling a set with a full on Dansco album. I am, however, unsure whether I should go the full mile and try collecting all business strikes and proofs until current, including "Native American" Sacagawea coins, starting at 2009, or if I should just go the route of adding all proofs and business strikes until 2008. The small collection I have. Anybody have a full Sacagawea set?

I think one thing that discourages casual collection is that you cannot complete that series from circulation. The NIFC coins will trip you up. Or am I confusing that with Presidential dollars? I thought some of the Native American dollars also had NIFC business strikes for some coins.

As far as I know, after 2001, it seems the Sacagawea dollars were NIFC only. I could be wrong. However, there seems to be some things I am reading that indicate that the Native American dollars were made for circulation from 2009-2012, at lower quantities, and after that the coins in general are NIFC. None of the Sacagawea/Native American dollars in general seem to be very expensive, though. You could probably find a good deal of them for 5 dollars and under on ebay. I usually now prefer to buy sets of coins though, as opposed to individual ones.

Yes - underappreciated! The newer quarter sized "Dollars" have never caught on!

I don't recall seeing it in your signature at all I believe. Have you made a thread about them? Quote:Nice collection! And yes, definitely under appreciated. Thanks!

I am only missing one, two if you count the Cheerios dollar and I'm not counting that one, I need the 2000-D Burnished that is the Millennium Currency & Coinage set.
I got all of the them from mint and proof sets (including the 2017 enhanced mint set, reverse proof set from 2018 and all the coin and currency sets that included the dollar coin.) And since they are also in the Silver Proof Sets I have doubles of the proof coins

Very nice! It is one set I have neglected, but I have done a better job with the since renamed Native American dollars.

Quote: 2000-D Burnished that is the Millennium Currency & Coinage set I was not aware of this one. I've been slowly acquiring proof and mint sets so it's a no brainer for me to go ahead and put together of set of the Sacagawea and the Native American coins. I've already picked up the special Enhanced Uncirculated sets which are not too many of them and fairly priced $13-$18 each. I just need the Reverse Proof version. Overall the series is a very reasonable collection to acquire. Plus with the Native American coins the reverse is a new design each year unlike the five designs for the quarter which requires a new album each series. With the Sacagawea and Native American coins it will take awhile before you'll need another album.

As for the 2000-D Burnished dollar coin - I just bought 2 of them - both graded by PCGS (MS-66 and MS-67) The '66 I'll crack out and put in the album with the label..

I picked up a Dansco filled with P&D mint marks from 2000 - 2022 for cheap. Definitely an under appreciated series.
