coppercoins,
Could LP2 stand for Lincoln Penny 2 ? I'm just giving an educated guess, but maybe somebody else could chime in if they know different.

LP2 is the specific product number for the "Formative Years" two roll set sold by the Mint. I would assume you are correct urbnlgnd- " Lincoln Penny 2".

Of course you are right, and I was only almost right. :)

It's kinda odd they did it that way. The proposed designs for 2010 are given similar names, for example:

LP02 (or LP2 or LP-02?): Capitol building
LP13: Shield
LP17: Eagle

So then we shouldn't be using the LP numbers to denote the different designs on the individual coins...I frankly find it confusing, but this year's Lincoln cents do bring a new challenge to the die variety listing systems...no way to differentiate between the different designs within a single year. What could end up to be 2009P-1DR-020 might be the fourth design while 2009P-1DR-021 might be the third design. This happens because doubled dies are always summarily listed in the order they are discovered and reported.

We have five different 2009P DDRs listed already. 2009P-1DR-001 is a 'Birth and Childhood' cent, while the others are 'Formative Years' cents...however it is entirely possible that 2009P-1DR-006 could be another "Birth and Childhood' die. Dilemnas....
