This was a one look purchase. Didn't merit a second thought imho. Eye appeal is foremost and this one looked off the charts. Beautifully struck! Hope it looks just like these photos when it arrives as I would be so disappointed if something lesser shows up. Thoughts? Thanks!   The strike in Liberty's head, face and hair are fantastic. And the veining in the leaves... Stars look fully struck.  Details in the ground by Liberty's feet and the sheafs of wheat are astounding. Stars again look fully struck.   The feathers/plumage of the eagle looks stunning. The details on the eagle's feathers are awesome but I don't know nearly enough about this series to hazard a guess. To my eye a well struck coin I hope it shows up the way you think.

I agree with your analysis and description...super coin! The title needs to include "S" mintmark Looking fwd to in hand pics...fingers crossed. smat

AU58 with the question then becomes how many marks and/or surface issues are there that the lighting is hiding. has all the original skin been removed? very little wear, I'm wondering if it could even be UNC. I guess the only way to tell is when it comes in.

boy this one for me is a tough call. some of the field marks are die polish lines. some could be contact marks and some might be from a light polishing. I was afraid the photo were hiding the fields and your in-hand photos show them. nice photos btw. my biggest concern areas are under the right arm and the field under AMERICA. they could also be from a short time in circulation. I dont know where to go with this one. if you look close to the neck I'm inclined to say the coin was polished.
AU or UNC cleaned/polished. not sure i'd be inclined to keep her unless you got it cheap. I don't like to procure details coins for the most part.

The seller photos were way more flattering if not outright deceptive. Your photos reveal some kind of surface alteration like abrasive cleaning and/or light polishing. Unfortunate damage to a coin with a really excellent strike.
Like the Norwegian Blue, it shows beautiful plumage.

In my experience, I think it is a mistake to grade seated and Trade dollars the way one does a common date Morgan. Morgans are abundant with great luster in AU grades, and AU grades can pick up a lot of nicks and hits. The 93-95 Morgans are graded more in line with seated and Trade dollars. Below is a link to a Trade dollar that I acquired about 20 years ago. It was the first Trade dollar I bought from a dealer named Harlan Berk. He had that coin as a straight AU and PCGS agreed. I think this coin is higher grade than that 77-S. The devices are sharper and this one to me shows no wear. I have this one at MS61. I paid $685 for it and have no thoughts of returning it. https://goccf.com/t/274759
