I haven't had much experience grading Walking Liberties and thought this would be a good opportunity to learn more. I'd be surprised to surpass Good on any of these, but am still thrilled. All just purchased slightly under melt from a bulk bin, I couldn't leave them to their potential fate! The first, a 1916:

For curiosity's sake; Is there a particular feature/spot that keeps it from G in your opinion, or simply the overall appearance?

What kept me from grading it at Good is the high amount of wear on the high points. They're pretty much flat. The rims are almost merging into the fields. Just my opinion. I could be wrong though.

I was between AG3/G4 myself, for me it's the pock marks/rim.

The strength of the reverse and relative strength of the motto over the rim at LIB of LIBERTY suggest that some of the obverse weakness is die wear or possibly a slightly misaligned obverse die. I'm at G-04 here.
