could be the damaged MM, but too bad they don't show MM position in relation to the date.

Looks lower from the date than in reference photos.

Quote: too bad they don't show MM position Yes, some of these listings are lacking! Maybe they can hire uruman to take their pics - he always seems to do a great job! Quote: I'm pretty sure it's just the Damaged Mint Mark Punch.

Quote: Looks lower from the date than in reference photos That's the problem - they only show the mint mark - not the position. Unless you were able to find it somewhere other than Wexlers

Quote: Thoughts? E&V is spot on, it's the damaged mm punch. Quote: BUT; I think it is the fake Damaged Mint Mark Punch I do not understand why you call it the "fake" damaged mint mark punch, it's a real damaged mint mark punch. I guess maybe a fake, RPM? Quote: could be the damaged MM, but too bad they don't show MM position in relation to the date. The date position does not matter, it's damaged mint mark punch, it could be anywhere location wise, it's not part of the die, it's hand punched on the die, each die. Quote: Looks lower from the date than in reference photos. Refer to my last comment. Quote: That's the problem - they only show the mint mark - not the position. Unless you were able to find it somewhere other than Wexlers It does not matter, refer to the statement 2x above, it's hand punched onto each die, it could be anywhere, damaged punch or not.

Quote: I forgot they were hand punched... I was basically thinking that if it was damaged, they wouldn't use it again. Oops! Silly me

Yes, I know that, but if we had a location that is referenced above, we could match it to the exact same die. If this Damaged MM punch was used on many different dies, then I would think it should get correlated differently to all the different die pairs.

It was used on more than just "many" different dies. If you look at the different actual RPM listings, it is present on those too. You would have a harder time finding a 79 D without it, I would think, so coming up with all the locations would be ALOT. Maybe a new project for you, Dearborn.
