my grandfather recently passed away and I didnt know if anyone knows when this was made and how much its worth. the pic stinks but its my only one. the other side shows the three astronaughts. any help would be appreciated. P.S. I'm new at this

Yes,the picture is woefully poor and of zero help.One look at the coin will tell you if its gold.It will be clearly marked as such.
There were limited edition sets comprising of 4 gold medals for apollos 8 - 11 ,these were struck in Italy ,only 2000 sets made.

Much more commen is the gold plated versions.

lol ya sorry I have no idea how to work my fathers new scanner sorry about that. thank you for the news though. I took it to a gold expert and he was certain it is near 100%. if so probably .900. thank you again

Peteloaf, Welcome to the forum family, I do not collect much coinage in Gold, but I would think the coin in question would be stamped the amount of gold in the coin, also the purity of the same, good luck, Mike....

A better pic would allow me to say if this is part of one of the limited sets.
Pure gold would be .999 rather than 900 which oddly is exactly what the apollo medals were made of.
