$67. #21 of 40 acquired recently. Recently I purchased 40 slabbed Morgan dollars (36 ANACS, 3 PCGS and 1 ICG) and will post one a day alongside one Peace dollar. I paid an average of $67 for the 40 coins. This time I will post the grade of the coin 2 days after and this time we can compare our grades with those of TPGs. Thoughts? Thanks! I'll say MS-63.

the 85 was the last year of half decent strikes until 98. broken luster across the cheek and neck. this would preclude from a 64 grade

It's lightly circulated, but it should still get an UNC grade. Some of the obverse scratches look more like a coin that has been scraped across a store counter or two, rather than purely being bag marks. New Orleans was both a bullion depository and mint, and received lightly circulated dollars that were used to top off partial mint bags. This has the look of one of those. IMHO, this one easily makes MS-63 on a bourse floor, although a TPG grader may knock it a step for the broken luster and dings on the eagle's breast.
