My collecting budget ain't what it used to be so I've been looking at lower-priced items like common silver dollars. Sometimes the local dealer has attractive coins in the $14 box, such as this 1922
Peace dollar. It's no gem but it does have very attractive, light pastel toning on the reverse. There was tape residue on the obverse which was mostly removed with an acetone soak. It looks like some residue remains and I need to repeat the soak.
The photo only hints at the actual color of the reverse (I find toning very hard to image). The colors are brighter in-hand as the coin is tilted under the light. I believe this to be natural toning.
Peace dollars are not often found with color but when you do find it, this is what it typically looks like.
