I would like an opinion of if this should be graded or not,,, primary reason due to the smooth edge and its unusual thickness. The obverse is in really poor condition I know.. I am not sure if this is a forgien planchet or not. see pics

It's PMD. Possibly a Dryer Coin or it was spooned. Worth face value, as it's just damage and not an error. Not worth slabbing.

Yes, likely a Dryer Coin. Can't rule out an attempt at spooning.

I agree, it is not a mint error, looking at the scratches on Washington's face I think it is a tooled coin where it was clamped and held by a plyer and the rims were grinded off.

No way for that to happen when the coin was struck.
The only way to have no reeds is if it was struck out of collar.
Just a damaged quarter worth 25 cents.

ok guys,, I'm gonna have to look up spooning,, & Dryer Coin,, new terms for me , not new to collecting and hunting but I will add these two terms to my memory,, somehow cause there's so much.

this coin is not mine,, a teller at my local bank has me researching what could cause this. she found it in a roll she just broke open and wanted to see if I knew something.
not sure what PMD is either.

Spooning is also a new one for me. Anyone have a link so I can learn or do I dare Google this?

It means Post Minting Damage. In other words whatever happened
to the coin happened after it left the striking chamber.

ok,, I think I get it now,,,
its actually from my self paced quick review of Dryer Coin ,, this one would most likely fall squarely into a "EARLY STAGE" Dryer Coin?
