1919 S Mercury Dime FB? - Coin Community Forum

roach Valued Member United States 364 Posts	Posted 02/09/2026 4:07 pm Hi all, a few months ago I posted a 1925 S dime that NGC did not give the FB designation too (much to my disappointment). I recently came across this one that IS graded NGC MS 62 FB.....how? the bottom band isn't even split a little bit!!!! Report this Post to the Staff

roach Valued Member United States 364 Posts	Posted 02/09/2026 4:32 pm Oh, so it's ONLY the central band? I always assumed it had to be all three since it said bandS. So the other two can be absolute garbage and it doesn't matter. I learned something today! Thank you! Report this Post to the Staff

I totally agree! The middle band is the most important one to qualify as a Full Band designation (FB): The center band must be fully split, left to right, with no breaks, flat spots, or weakness in the middle. *PCGS* and *NGC* both focus heavily on that middle band...
