Hi all, a few months ago I posted a 1925 S dime that NGC did not give the FB designation too (much to my disappointment). I recently came across this one that IS graded NGC MS 62 FB.....how? the bottom band isn't even split a little bit!!!!

Achieving Full Bands status requires complete and distinct visibility of the central band....

Quote:
Full Bands designations are bestowed only to Mercury dimes that grade MS60 or better and exhibit a complete separation of the central crossband

Quote:
To qualify for NGC's Full Bands (FB) designation, the two central bands (seen at the center of the coin) must show full separation

Oh, so it's ONLY the central band? I always assumed it had to be all three since it said bandS. So the other two can be absolute garbage and it doesn't matter. I learned something today! Thank you!

. . . I totally agree!
The middle band is the most important one to qualify as a Full Band designation (FB):
The center band must be fully split, left to right, with no breaks, flat spots, or weakness in the middle.
PCGS and NGC both focus heavily on that middle band...

when I'm looking at FB to purchase a Merc, regardless what a TPG says, I want all 3 bands with full separation and not just the middle band. to me this is true FB. TPG's dont grade them that way though. its a personal preference.
