The lighting on this makes the marks look more noticeable than in-person.

62 on a Monday grading session

63 on a late Friday afternoon grading session

Nice coin either way!

the strike is a tad weak for this year which is normally sharp. the hair around the ear and eagle breast are not struck up as well as the should be but its not a big deal when it comes to grade.

there is some subtle toning on the rims of both sides. the luster is pretty much gone from the cheek and neck area. the obv field scuffs along with the small hit on the right field rev and amount of marks on the cheek will keep this one to MS62

Another nice coin, and another tougher date.

Nice luster. The obverse scratches are fairly numerous, some deep, and in the more obvious locations. The reverse is better, with just one knock on the eagle's breast and the deeper gouge beneath the eagle's left wing (our visual right). It's too much for 63, and I'm at a bourse floor MS-62 here, regardless of the slab grade. Still, a very nice example of a challenging date.

This one actually went MS64, which was a surprise higher. I thought MS63 for sure.

Maybe they were making up for your 1892-O that they gave a 62.
