I found this 1992 in a roll of pennies. I am almost certain it is a Close AM 1992. The AM is touching and you can see the difference in the other 1992 I put next to it. close on left wide on right. But when looking at the FG initials I cannot tell if it is or isn't. My camera only has autofocus so I couldn't get any closer. Ill try to get someone with a better camera to take a picture. Wanted to get more opinions about it being a close 92.

Sorry, but by the photos it doesn't look like it, in a CAM the A and M would be pretty much touching, while in this one it looks to have a gap.
keep lookin though, those things are worth good money!

so what accounts for how much closer the AM is on the left one I found compared to all the other ones I found that look like the one on the right?

Doesn't look like one to me either! I've heard that worn dies can cause what you're asking about. Grab a 1999 cent and compare it to that. You'll see the difference especially in the fg.

first of all

I would also say its a Wide AM. The AM have to touch and also the FG on a Close AM will be further away from the memorial than it would on a wide |AM. Look at both cents and compare the FG initials and see if they are some what the same on both coins. I have found cents with a Gap that were still not considered Wide AM b/c of the designers initials not being right

The two are both wide A M's. The difference is not that the A&M are touching as much as the M being centered between the A & E. Both coins of yours show
the centered M in AMERICA. On the Close AM there is a space between the M & E of AMERICA. See if this helps:

It took more than five minutes to load this thread....PLEASE crop your images!

If all of the reverses posted are 1992 cents, they are all the common one...the 'wide-AM' version.
