If anyone has been keeping up with my Liberty nickel collection, I recently got this 1885 Liberty nickel in AG condition. I wouldn't normally post a kind of "separate" type scenario for a coin already in my posts, but being that this is basically the key date of all Liberty nickels, and the most expensive, I think it kind of deserves a special noting. So far, the most expensive coin I've purchased, coming in at around 250 dollars. I'm happy to have it, though. Highly worn. However, this coin is worth money in all grades.

Excellent acquisition, Humanist! Filling that hole is quite an achievement.

Very nice addition. That is indeed the key date for the series, good to have it behind you.

A solid coin for the price. You were wise to acquire it authenticated.

Thank you, friends
and no, I will not be cracking this one out personally. It's too expensive and valuable IMO to crack out. The 1886 and 1912-S, however, I may crack out when I get them.

Quote: I will not be cracking this one out personally. It's too expensive and valuable IMO to crack out. To each their own I say. I did crack out my 1885 Liberty nickel to physically place it in my Dansco. It was in a PCGS AU55 holder. I captured and shared photos of the 'woodworkers method' while freeing that coin.
