The breastplate is lopsided, with the right (facing) side flattened and displaced downward. The head also looks flattened and very blob-like. Liberty's left breast is just full, there is still lots of wear where the gown crosses her body, and the eagle's breast feathers are minimal. In addition to Jaobler's comments about possible damage, the dark spot behind Liberty's right knee is detracting. I would pass on this one. Even though the 1938-D is considered a semi-key, there are lots of them out there. Also, I'm concerned about the mintmark. It does not match the D on genuine examples, unless it too is damaged. IndianGoldEagle Bedrock of the Community United States 36415 Posts	Posted 03/02/2026 4:28 pm The mint mark is fine, just has a small hit on the top. Breast plate appears to have a small scratch that makes it look lop sided. My guess is this is a VF coin and worth the $60 I paid for it. Thanks to everyone for the input.
