Some of you auction prowlers may have seen this one already,
but I just had to share this 'borrowed' seller image to show to those
who have not stumbled upon the listing like I did.
This is the most spectacular, awe inspiring, well balanced full color toning
I have ever seen on a silver coin.
If you like this type of intense rainbow coloration, this specimen imho is perfect.
I realize this effect can be artificially, chemically induced, however if this is one of 'those',
then it is a masterpiece of art. I do not feel qualified to say I can recognize an obvious difference if one exists.
I am also unworthy of the responsibility of owning such a gem, which would prompty, uneqivocally outshine everything else
in my US type set. Thus will be a watcher, not a bidder.
Whew... the award of the year goes to you if you win.

It's beautiful, but I'm skeptical that it's natural.

Seems like this thread should be in the US Commemorative coin section.

Thanks for the input, guys.
To each his own as far as appreciation goes.
As stated above, it is hard for me to tell if this is original or not.
But I have bought from this auction house (see my Shield nickel topic)
because they offer outstanding specimens, good variety, and easy dealing.
I do wonder why someone would want to tone up this particular coin
which is not all that common, when there are plenty of shiny Morgans to play with.

I agree. My entire MS classic silver commemorative type set is largely blast white in PCGS holders and all 50 coins with a CAC green bean.

But, that does not mean I can't appreciate the spectacular colors in this example.

But is it market acceptable?

Looks like artificial toning to me. Not a fan on this one.

Maybe something to hide?

Does look intentionally laid down - far too consistent.
I swing a metal detector and have a knack for finding dirty old coins.
