Thankfully it was a cheap hole filler. I picked it up with an 1846 for $22. The 1846 was quite dirty but in better shape. After an acetone soak, I put it on top of the plastic flip it came in still wet. The acetone reacted with the plastic and removed the patina in a spot on the reverse and dulled it in a wider area. This is the first time that's happened to me. Needless to say, I won't be doing that again.

The ERI in America is where it stripped the toning. That was a darker area on the coin to start with. So between the acetone, reacting plastic, and whatever was the on the coin, it ended up cleaning the spot.

Acetone and plastic don't mix as you've discovered. But for $22 you got a fine filler.
